Spectator Code of Conduct

As a spectator at any game, training session, or event run by Boronia Cricket Club or its affiliated competitions, you are expected to follow the Spectators Code of Conduct below. These standards apply to all supporters, including parents, family members, and visitors.

1.   Remember that players—especially children—are involved in cricket for fun and personal development. They are not there to entertain the crowd.

2.   Applaud effort and good play from all players, no matter which team they are on. Congratulate both sides at the end of the game.

3.   Respect decisions made by umpires and coaches. If you disagree, use the correct process to raise concerns—never argue or challenge officials during the game. Teach children to show the same respect.

4.   Never ridicule or scold a player for making a mistake. Positive and encouraging comments help build confidence.

5.   Condemn all forms of violence, whether from players, coaches, officials, or spectators.

6.   Show respect for coaches, umpires, players, and fellow spectators. Every role is essential to making the game possible.

7.   Encourage fair play and respect for the rules, and take time to learn the game yourself.

8.   Set an example of appropriate behaviour. Do not use offensive language or harass anyone involved in the game.

9.   Support development-focused formats, including age-appropriate activities and modified rules that help young players learn and enjoy the game.

By following this code, you contribute to a welcoming, respectful, and supportive cricket environment at Boronia Cricket Club—for players, officials, and fellow supporters alike.
