At Boronia Cricket Club, we recognise that parents and guardians are some of the most influential role models in our cricketing community. Your support and conduct at training, matches, and club events play a vital role in shaping a positive environment for all players—especially our juniors.
We ask all parents and guardians to uphold the following Parents Code of Conduct:
1. Never pressure a child to play cricket if they are unwilling. Participation should be a personal choice.
2. Remember that cricket is for the enjoyment of the children, not the adults. Keep the focus on fun, learning, and growth.
3. Encourage your child to play within the rules and to respect the spirit of the game.
4. Support effort and improvement over winning. Help children understand that doing their best is more important than the outcome.
5. Avoid criticism or frustration when mistakes are made—never ridicule or shout at a child for errors or a loss.
6. Model good sportsmanship. Applaud great play and effort from all players, regardless of the team.
7. Help foster a safe, respectful environment. Support the removal of any form of verbal or physical abuse from junior sport.
8. Respect umpires, coaches, and officials, and teach children to do the same—even when decisions don’t go your way.
9. Value and support volunteers. Our club relies on the generosity of coaches, officials, and administrators—your appreciation makes a difference.
10. Treat everyone with respect, regardless of gender, ability, cultural background, or beliefs.
11. Be familiar with and follow the Codes of Conduct and Policies outlined by Cricket Victoria and Boronia Cricket Club.
By supporting these principles, you’re helping create a safe, inclusive, and positive environment where young players can enjoy their cricket and develop to their full potential.
